Solar Installer / Lead

Have work diversity between outdoor solar installs and being indoors in the office in front of a computer doing solar design, planning, permits...

  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record and reliable transportation a MUST.

  • 2-3 yrs of solar installation experience is preferred - roofing, electrician, and other construction trades are welcome.

  • Positive attitude, highly motivated and goal driven with a proven track record.

  • Experience with electrical wiring

  • Experience working on ladders, heights and on roofs.

  • Must be able to carry 50 lbs on regular basis

  • Experience with many types of hand-held and power tools

  • Team player who listens, learns, and actively communicates

  • Knows all aspects of installing solar PV systems

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Experience directing and mentoring technicians

  • Solar experience needed, but would consider electrician experience for the position. 3+ yrs

  • Self-drive and initiative is highly required.

  • H.S. Diploma, two-year degree in technology/industrial preferred, but not required

  • Experience with many types of hand-held and power tools

  • Experienced with electrical wiring of AC and DC systems

  • Team player who listens, learns, and actively communicates

  • Design, assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. May include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. May perform electrical work such as current checks and wiring.

  • Perform, delegates, and supervise solar department as will be described in the project management/Gantt chart

  • Follow layout of solar array implementation according to code

  • Supervise staff to order and pull solar inventory for projects

  • Supervise and assembly of mechanical/structural mounting racking, modules and electrical equipment

  • Manage lead techs technicians in the field

  • Supervise the installation of attic insulation and other energy efficiency measure before/after solar array installation in homes and businesses

  • Pulling inventory for specific projects

  • Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, methodology and safety

  • Perform and troubleshoot PV system service as required

  • Support the insulation department as needed

  • Learn building science and insulation techniques as done by Sustainergy Cooperative

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

  • 10 hour shift

  • 8 hour shift
