Commercial Solar
There are so many advantages for a business to go solar! With a commercial solar energy system, you’ll be able to produce your own electricity using free energy from the sun. Not only does this reduce your electricity bills now, but it also protects you against rising rates and gives you access to clean, reliable power for decades.
Commercial Solar Tax Incentives Are Still Available!
The federal solar tax credit for residential homes has sunset as of December 31, 2026, but commercial incentives are still alive - just not for long. Business owners have until the end of June, 2026 to begin their project, and until the end of 2027 to finish it, to be eligible for the tax credits. This is a HUGE opportunity to receive up to 70% of the total project cost back in tax incentives. Here is the breakdown:
30% base tax credit
10% bonus credit for using domestic content (US-manufactured panels)
10%-20% bonus credit for low-income areas (eligibility map)
10% bonus credit for energy communities (eligibility map)
Again, as long as your project is started before June of 2026, then you will be able to receive your eligible credits. On top of this, solar is now an asset for your business, therefore many business owners depreciate the equipment - getting them even more back.
With energy rates rising in the double digits each year, data centers being built and more burden coming to the grid, there has never been a more important time to CONTROL YOUR ENERGY and stabilize your bills for decades to come.

Net Metering and Financing for Businesses
Maximize Your Benefits with Smart Solar
Sustainergy Cooperative is not just a solar panel installation company. We are also an energy efficiency expert that has been helping business owners save energy and money for years with our low-cost, high-impact energy efficiency solutions.
Solar panels are most profitable on an energy efficient building, which is why we developed our Smart Solar approach. When you opt for Smart Solar, we will help you reduce your energy consumption with energy efficiency improvements before going solar so you can install a smaller, more affordable solar power system. Not only does this make it easier to add solar panels to your business, but it can also speed up your return on investment since you’ll need to recoup less money to break even.
If you want to skip the energy efficiency upgrades, no problem! While we often recommend them, we don’t require energy efficiency improvements to move forward with a solar installation.
Net Metering - Net metering is a solar incentive that allows you to sell the extra electricity your solar panels generate to your utility company in exchange for credit on your bills. Most of the major utilities in Ohio (Duke, AEP, etc.) offer this at a true 1-1 rate, meaning that the rate that you pay for electric is the same rate that the utility pays you for what is excess generated. This is a HUGE way to make solar pay for itself in a short amount of time.
Financing - We offer different options for our customers to pay for their solar, including solar financing. Depending on your project type and needs, we are happy to explore what works best for you!
